Please refer to the Premiere Pro support page for additional late-breaking information and known issues about Premiere Pro CS3.
Install and Launch
- On first launch on Mac, Premiere Pro will ask for an administrator password. This is normal behavior. (1484586)
- The Japanese version of Premiere Pro must be installed into the default location or into a path without Japanese characters. (1537563)
- We recommend that you update to Adobe Bridge 2.1 to take advantage of the new features in Premiere Pro CS3 and Adobe Bridge CS3. (1524786, 1524100)
General
- Do not save WMV files to a network path. (1535633)
- Using the control key in a custom keyboard shortcut can cause conflicts with other keyboard commands. (1503891)
- On a Mac system with two or more partitions, do not save projects to the Volumes alias folder. This location is inaccessible from Premiere Pro or from the Finder. (1539479, 1538776)
- When working with large numbers of large still images in the timeline, you may encounter performance issues and problems rendering. We recommend that you either reduce the size of the stills or use the Scale to Frame Size option. If you have problems rendering, select Optimize Rendering for Memory from the General preferences. (1508256)
Capture
- During capture, dropped frames or aborted captures may result if the host computer is performing other tasks such as downloading files, playing back other media files, opening/closing preferences dialog, taking screenshots, or if video capture settings have been set incorrectly.
- For optimal performance while capturing, disable all screen and energy saving modes.
- On the Mac, the capture panel can sometimes prevent the source monitor from working correctly. Close the Capture panel if this occurs. (1533121)
Effects
- When SHIFT-dragging time remapping key frames, start the drag of the keyframe before pressing the SHIFT key. (1525166)
- For keying work, the Color Key effect is recommended . This effect replaces the Chroma Key effect from previous versions, and provides higher quality results. (1508248)
Interoperability
- When using Dynamic Link, you must name After Effects projects with an .aep extension (1520237)
- Copying and pasting DV24p media from After Effects to a Premiere Pro project sets the frame rate back to 29.97, thus creating a danger stripe in the timeline. Use Interpret Footage to manually set the frame rate to 23.976. (1533793)
Audio
- To set up audio mixer recording on a Mac, select System Default Input/Output as the preferred Default Device setting. (1533853)
- For correct audio recording on Vista systems using Intel based audio, it may be necessary to download a new audio driver. Download the Intel Audio Studio Software for Vista from http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Support_Intel.aspx, select the correct software for your motherboard, and install to replace the WDM driver that comes with Vista. (1512681)
- To correctly set automation keyframes on the Audio Mixer and VST Editor Panels, create the filter first and then set the mode to Touch. (1532759)
Export
- When exporting to AME, use unique file names or files will be overwritten without warning. (1524077, 1498367)
- When exporting to Encore in Blu-ray format, Encore will always create a project with H.264 as the default codec. This applies only to files that are transcoded in Encore. The settings that you select in Premiere Pro are respected. (1499030)
- When exporting DV .mov files on Mac, the files will import into Premiere Pro with a red render bar. To avoid this, check the Recompress Always option. (1535639)
- When using Export to Encore, the Multiplexing setting in the video options should be None. Choosing DVD will fail because Encore does not support multiplexed files. (1535095)
